Breast health & diagnostic visits

Know whether you need routine screening or an assessment of a new concern.

Ask for the appropriate appointment

When contacting a clinic, distinguish a screening request from a new symptom such as a lump or nipple change. Ask which specialist should assess the concern and which prior images to bring.

Confirm the service

Always For You lists a breast-disease service, mammography and ultrasound. Confirm which tests are suitable for you, whether further sampling is available if needed and how results will be communicated.

Plan beyond the scan

Ask how follow-up is arranged if additional assessment is recommended. Keep copies of imaging and reports for your usual clinician.

THE DECISION THAT MATTERS

A new lump or breast change needs a diagnostic assessment; a general screening package is not a substitute.

Options to discuss with a clinician

Clinical examination

A clinician assesses the concern and decides which investigations are appropriate.

Imaging

Ultrasound or mammography may be used. The choice depends on the clinical situation; more tests are not automatically better.

Further assessment

A biopsy may be needed for some findings. Ask where it is performed, who explains pathology and how referral is arranged.

Questions specific to this concern

  • Should I book a diagnostic visit rather than routine screening?
  • Can previous imaging be reviewed alongside the new images?
  • If a biopsy is needed, can it be arranged here or through a referral?
  • Who is responsible for discussing results after I leave Korea?

What to bring

Bring earlier images and reports, dates and location of changes, prior biopsies or surgery and relevant family history. Tell the clinic at booking that you have a symptom so the appointment is scheduled appropriately.

Plan the care after your appointment

Ask for the written imaging assessment, any follow-up interval and copies of the images. If results require further investigation, agree on the next provider and appointment rather than leaving with only a scan report.
